Tir Conaill Academy teaching in The Tir Conaill Academy of Irish Dance has been teaching traditional Irish dancing in Arizona since 2005. We are fortunate to have three expert Irish dance instructors, all qualifed by An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha, the International Irish Dancing Commission. Widely acclaimed Irish dance superstar Michael Patrick Gallagher, has certification in both teaching and adjudicating Irish dance. As former two time World Champion and Lead of Riverdance for 8 years, Michael Patrick combines the best of traditional and modern Irish dance in his choreography. Christopher McGrory, TCRG, is both a respected Irish dance instructor and a world famous Irish dance musician; his Irish dance CDs can be found in dance classes throughout the world and set the international standard for Irish dance music. Rosemary Browne, TCRG, has been teaching Irish dance in Arizona for the past twelve years, and brings to the class her vast experience as an Irish dance instructor, as a mother to a champion Irish dancer, and also as a board certified physician. As both male teachers are native to County Donegal in Ireland, it was natural to name our dance school TIR CONAILL ("teer cun-nell"), which is the ancient name for that part of Ireland. In 2009 the school expanded into Albuquerque, New Mexico, and has received incredible enthusiasm and support from the local Irish community there. The Tir Conaill Academy is a happy school where students work hard and have fun while mastering the art of Irish dancing. The dancers have many opportunities to demonstrate their skills, whether they are performing for various local functions or competing in Irish dance contests, called feiseanna ("fesh e na"), in Arizona, on the west coast, across North America, or at the World Championships. |
